Ajamu Baraka, Green Party Vice-Presidential Nominee, will speak in Gainesville at 7pm on Monday October 10th at the Headquarters Library. 401 East University Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32601, Meeting Room A.

Topics will include: creating systemic change via The Power to the People Plan, cancelling student debt, ending institutional racism in policing, courts, and prisons, and how The Green New Deal will create 20 million jobs.

There will be round of opening speakers (more details coming soon) prior to the talk by Ajamu Baraka.

Short Bio:

A human rights defender whose experience spans four decades of domestic and international education and activism, Ajamu Baraka is a veteran grassroots organizer whose roots are in the Black Liberation Movement and anti-apartheid and Central American solidarity struggles.

Baraka is an internationally recognized leader of the emerging human rights movement in the U.S. and has been at the forefront of efforts to apply the international human rights framework to social justice advocacy in the U.S. for more than 25 years. As such, he has provided human rights trainings for grassroots activists across the country, has given briefings on human rights to the U.S. Congress, and has appeared before and provided statements to various United Nations agencies, including the UN Human Rights Commission (precursor to the current UN Human Rights Council).

We are pleased to announce that the Green Party Vice Presidential candidate, Ajamu Baraka, will be stopping in Jacksonville.

Ajamu Baraka will be on our local NPR radio show First Coast Connect, hosted by Melissa Ross. You can tune in between 9:00am – 10:00am 89.9FM to listen to his interview with Melissa Ross.

Afterwards Ajamu will be speaking at the local IBEW union hall located at 966 N Liberty St Jacksonville, FL 32206 between 11:30 – 12:30.
